Dylan Raiola, No. 1 Class of 2024 Football Recruit, Commits to Georgia

Dylan Raiola, the No. 1 quarterback, is a quarterback. 1 recruit for the class of 2024, announced that he is heading to the He attended University of Georgia for his undergraduate studies.

After completing his senior year at Pinnacle High School in Phoenix, Raiola announced on social media that he would be moving to Athens.

“I’m a Dawg, and Athens, Georgia is my home!! Go Dawgs,” he wrote on Tweeting a photo of himself wearing a Bulldogs uniform.

6-foot-3 quarterback Raiola, who weighs 230 pounds, had previously pledged to attend Ohio State University in May 2022. But he withdrew in December, only a few months later, and his father, former NFL lineman Dominic Raiola, promised he would think things through carefully the next time.

Raiola explained to ESPN why this time around the Bulldogs were the best fit for him.

“There’s a culture and a standard that I was attracted to,” he explained. “The more time passed, the more strongly I felt about Georgia, which ultimately led me to make this choice.

“I took a lot away from my first encounter. I didn’t feel hurried or under pressure to make a decision this time, so I took my time. I was able to talk to my family, my pastor, and my mentors. Because of the stability, I was able to remain calm, exercise patience, and let God lead me.”

The first time, Ohio State beat out other top teams like Alabama, Texas, Notre Dame, Oregon, and USC in addition to his father’s alma mater, Nebraska. Georgia was on the list for the first time as well.

Raiola reportedly considered Nebraska and USC when making this choice in addition to Georgia.

After deciding against attending Ohio State, Raiola changed schools from Chandler High School to Pinnacle. While his sophomore season was even better with 3,341 yards, 32 touchdowns, and five interceptions, his junior year saw 2,435 yards passing with 22 touchdowns to five interceptions. Over the previous two seasons, he scored 11 times while running.

Raiola will probably put up more impressive numbers as he enters his senior year before moving to Athens, where he will probably face some tough competition. As a redshirt junior expected to start for the Bulldogs this season, Carson Beck will most likely still be playing for the team in 2024.

The depth chart also includes Brock Vandagriff and ESPN 300 recruit Gunner Stockton, who joined the Bulldogs last season. Raiola will arrive on campus when they are both juniors.

Raiola will need to earn his starts, but he’s ready to work as hard as he can both on and off the field.

“Georgia’s program isn’t based off of one person or one position group,” Raiola told ESPN. “As a person and a student-athlete, I’m dedicated to expanding and evolving. I’m eager to collaborate with Coaches Mike Bobo and Montgomery VanGorder.

“Since Coach Bobo helped Uncle Matthew [Stafford] during his time at Georgia, it’s pretty unusual how this will all come full circle.”

As another five-star recruit to sign with the defending national champions, Raiola joins cornerback Ellis Robinson IV in that regard. The team led by head coach Kirby Smart keeps signing elite players to bolster an emerging SEC dynasty.

Naturally, that has a big impact on Raiola’s choice.

“Coach Smart has built this program to last, and I’m excited and honored to be a part of it,” he said.
