Para-swimmers Face Final World Series Test Ahead of Manchester World Championships

Ten English swimmers will compete this weekend in the penultimate leg of the 2023 CITI Para Swimming World Series competition in Limoges, France, on behalf of Great Britain.

Thirteen swimmers from the UK are among the 29 teams traveling to France for the country’s first World Series competition, which will take place one year before the Paris Paralympic Games of 2024.

From May 26–28, three days of competition will take place at the Aquapolis complex in Limoges, giving the British team one last opportunity to compete in the World Series before the World Championships in Manchester this summer.

Ellie Challis is back in action after winning the silver medal in the SB2 50m Breaststroke event of the World Series in Berlin two weeks ago as she gets ready to defend her title at home in about two months.

Poppy Maskill (Alsager Swimming Club) and Georgia Sheffield (Bolton Metro Swimming Club), two S14 swimmers who are honing their competitive techniques on an international level, also cross the English Channel.

In addition, Commonwealth champion Alice Tai, who missed the beginning of 2023 due to injury, will make her competitive action debut at this event, and Zach Washington-Young will race for the first time since the World Series race in Sheffield back in March.

As the young swimmers attempt to gain more international racing experience in France, Luke Batty, Bruce Dee, Eliza Humphrey, Megan Neave, and Fern Sneddon round out the English lineup.

The 13-member British group is challenged by Oliver Carter, Tegan Davidson, and Jack Milne of Scotland.

On each of the three days, the heats will begin at 8 am and the finals will begin at 4 pm, with the competition being live streamed on the CITI Para-Swimming World Series France website.
