USC Moves Up Two Spots For Second Straight Week In USA Today Sports Coaches Poll

To improve to 8-1 on the year, the Trojans defeated Cal. The defeats of Alabama and Clemson this week allowed them to move up two spots in the poll.
Two weeks prior to a Nov. 7 game, four Pac-12 teams are among the top 13. 19 Showdown on Saturday featuring Utah and Oregon in one game and USC and UCLA in the other.
The Crimson Tide were categorically eliminated from the College Football Playoff by Alabama’s defeat. Due to Clemson’s defeat, the Tigers’ chances of making the playoffs are now in serious jeopardy. In each of the first eight seasons of the playoff, either Alabama or Clemson has advanced. Perhaps this year marks the end of that run.
