Women’s Swimming & Diving: Macalester Ranked 10th in Central Region
2 min readMacalester College’s women’s swimming and diving team is ranked 10th in the Central Region by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), which has released its Division III rankings. The CSCAA rankings, which are based on dual meet strength, are thought to be the first time the women’s swimming and diving team has been mentioned.
With victories in dual meets over Luther, Saint Benedict, Carleton, and Hamline, the Scots have had a strong start to the year. The only defeat in a dual match this year came at the hands of St. Catherine University, which is ranked 21st in Division III Top 25 rankings and sixth in the region.
Because the Scots placed behind both teams at the MIAC Championships the year before, the victories over the Knights and Bennies are significant. Macalester defeated the Knights in the MIAC Championship match for the first time with the victory over Carleton.
Macalester, coached by Kyllian Griffin, is one of three Teams from the MIAC that are ranked second to No. 6 Gustavus No. 9, and St. Catherine. Both the Division III Top 25 rankings and the Central Region rankings place Kenyon first.
On Dec. 1, the Scots return to the water. 2-3 for the Riley Pool hosts the Roger Ahlman Invitational.
